JCM Field Trip 2017

Highlight:
Aspiring LUSI (Lumpur Sidoarjo/ Mud Sidoarjo) Geopark is the meaning of the management of a special area. It combines the world’s largest and only one of the world’s largest and sole LUSI earth-disaster control missions by aligning the diversity of Geodiversity, Biodiversity and Culturediversity and local wisdom through the principles of conservation, education and sustainable development, In Sidoarjo Regency of East Java Indonesia.

This field trip will introduce participants to the Aspiring LUSI Geopark with Dr. Ir. Heryadi Rachmat, MM.

Highlight:
Ijen Crater is the biggest crater lake in Java. The Sulphur crater lake lies between a natural dams of deeply etched rock. It is 200 meters deep and contains about 36 million cubic meters of steaming acid water, shrouded in a smelling swirling sulphur cloud. Inside the crater the different color and size of stones are found. It is the natural picture that can be seen everyday.

This field trip will introduce participants to the modern hydrothermal systems on an active volcano (Mt Ijen). In addition to site visits, participants will have the opportunity to spend two hours short course with Dr.Eng. Mirzam Abdurrachman, ST., MT.
